Was the Last Day of Snowboarding worth it?

For the Reading Week off from University I embarked on an adventure to Fernie with my boyfriend's family! Our crew consisted of my boyfriend's parents, his 2 brothers and their girlfriends. We had a sweet condo on the hill that we could snowboard into at the end of the day. All in all the trip was great right up to the last day..great weather...good base of snow....great company....great food and drinks....great hot tub.....and even a good little Jenga tournament ha ha. After the third day of snowboarding I thought this is one great trip..the only thing that could be better is some nice new powder! So the fourth day and final opportunity to go snowboarding came along and I was contemplating whether I should end off on a good note or squeeze in more day. So in the end I decided a half day would be just enough for my soar and tired body. So I headed out that afternoon all ready to go hard for the last day! First run went real well and I figured it would be a wonderful day of snowboarding in the sunshine. Needless to say I should have just stayed at the condo and lay low....like my body was telling me to do! Instead I took some hard spills on the ice... ending with a final jump that resulted in me falling....jarring my lower back and cranking my neck....I even heard my neck crack! After that I had to inch my way down the hill and head back to the condo. On the way back to the condo, already mad that I had to leave the hill early, I biffed real hard on the icy trail back to the condo further injuring my lower back. So the 9 hour trip back to Saskatoon the next was a real long ride... but I had a lot of time to contemplate whether pushing myself the last day on a snowboarding trip is worth it.....and in my opinion... no it is not! Three days in a row is my max and anything more than that is for hot tubbing and relaxing! But all in all I am still ready for the next trip out to the mountains!

Wiki Update

For the Wiki Assignment I decided to update the Wiki on my hometown of Coronach Saskatchewan. When I first went to Wikipedia to investigate what information they had on Coronach I discovered that they only had a sentence or two. I figured this had to changed, so i went about my quest at updating the Coronach Wiki to make the world understand the all the great features of the town. A few of the key things that I added include: the population size, the importance of the Power Plant and Coal Mine to Coronach's industry, and a list of the main features of the town worth checking out....including the big Outlaw Days in July!

1st birthday shinanigans!

This past weekend I got to celebrate my nephew's first birthday!!! First off he is my only nephew ....nor do I have a niece.....so this was a pretty big deal! I could have probably watched the little gaffers all day go about paying with each other and all the new toys. Also it was pretty sweet watching my nephew experience his first taste of chocolaty goodness as he dug into his own little chocolate cake! Can't wait for birthday number 2!

For my research paper I am going to research whether or not access to technology improves learning. As I was reading through the assignment, I came across this topic posted on the class website. I wanted to research this topic to see if research backs up what I believe on this topic. Now I can start thinking about what I am going to write as i'm riding up the chairlifts in Fernie!!!!

Valentine's Day!

Valentines Day came early this year! I've always thought that Valentines Day is a good time...but that people shouldn't go be so fixated on having to celebrate it on Feb 14. I don't mind if it happens a day or two early or late...as long as it happens. Also i'm not a huge fan of people having to buy big gifts for each other....I would way rather send time doing something! V-day this year way great though...i got to experience the koutouki tavern, a great movie and I got some beautiful flowers...even though i always mention that i never need anything.

One of my favorite part of Valentine's Day was when my little five year old friend gave me a valentines card....well i was tickled pink! Then i turned it over to see that she was regifting the valentines that someone had given her already from school.... ha ha. At least she was being environmentally friendly.
